We are a family fishing resort in the heart of Minnesota’s vacation country. Only 3 hours north of ‘The Cities’ and 2 hours west of Duluth, we offer peace and solitude – away from the noises of urban living. No traffic noise, no sirens. Only the sounds of the great outdoors. Loon serenades and the sounds of folks enjoying themselves prevail. Boat, fish, ski, play games, or just relax and take it all in. Others do it year after year. Why not join them?
The weekly kids fishing contest is the biggest attraction for our younger guests and their families. The turtle races and marshmallow social are always well attended as well. We’re 35 miles from the nearest stoplight, yet shopping and a number of fine restaurants are only minutes away. The largest northern in the entire Longville Lakes area for the summer of 2006 was caught at Thunder Lake Lodge – 20lb+, 41-1/2”. It was only one of several over 18lb caught in our crystal clear waters last year. And numerous walleyes over 27″ were caught as well.
Thunder Lake is spring-fed and ultra-clean. Our sand beach has been called the best around by some of our guests who’ve been around. And there’s no mid-summer algae bloom! Shallow near shore, and deep at the swim raft, the beach is safe for all ages. It is a great place to relax on the chaise lounges or the 28’ swim raft, or to play water volleyball or just splash in the water.
Come see what makes us special. Stay in one of our brand new or recently remodeled and expanded cottages. Or relax in the air-conditioned comfort of one of our condos. We’d love to get to know you this year!

Thunder Lake Lodge
Annual family gatherings and reunions are the norm here at our family-friendly resort. Gather at the beach for sand castles or on the docks for the weekly kids fishing contest.
Walleyes, crappies, largemouth, smallmouth and even an occasional trophy pike. Thunder lake has it all for fishing. If you don’t feel like going out in the boat, we’ve even got some great fishing from the docks for kids and adults!
