A lake side family friendly resort nestled in the heart of Otter Tail County lakes country (home of over a thousand lakes!!), Sunset Bay Resort on Dead Lake in Richville, Minnesota, is a perfect lakeside getaway! Our secluded 15 wooded acres and 550 feet of clean sugar sand beach makes Sunset Bay a hidden gem. We expanded in 2019, so now have 8 lakeside cabins, a rental home (the House on the Hill), a park model rental (the Cozy Cabin), a travel trailer rental and 6 campsites with water and electricity hookups (2 also with septic). Add to all that-a spectacular swimming beach, our own boat launch, game room/lounge, fish cleaning house, guest laundry/shower house, small store-and of course, the most amazing SUNSETS! It is now our 10th season of owning and operating the resort, and we invite you to come and see what experiences await you at Sunset Bay!

Sunset Bay is situated on 15 wooded acres to explore and enjoy, which are adjacent to 550 feet of clean sandy shoreline. We have a beachside playground, badminton, basketball hoops, volleyball nets both for land and in the water, horseshoe pits, Frisbees, soccer balls, croquet and bocce ball. All equipment is available in the Game Room and is free of charge.
Boating / Rentals
Dead Lake offers an abundance of activities on the water to enjoy, such as catching your next trophy fish, recreational boating, or just floating in the bright sunshine.
The Sunset Bay office sells boat gas and oil. Paddleboats, Stand Up Paddleboards, a canoe, life jackets and a fish cleaning facility are all available at no charge to guests. Dock space, boats, motors and pontoons may be rented as demand permits—equipment should be reserved in advance to ensure availability*. Rates for non-guests available upon request.
